WOOFERS/VOLUNTEER HELPERS

We are a pensioner couple trying to maintain our lifestyle and care for our animals as long as possible on our small stud farm .  WE CAN SIGN 2ND YEAR VISA FORM 1263.   Some previous helpers have spent the whole 88 days here as they enjoyed it so much.

There are various daily jobs around our place that need to get done such as, feeding horses  (stallions, mares and youngsters), cleaning troughs, mucking out .  If experienced there are  yearlings and  foals to be handled.   Also fencing, general maintenance and generally helping out around would be appreciated.  We also breed German Shepherd dogs and they need to be exercise daily, fed and pens cleaned.   We  have lots of cats so must be a genuine animal lover.      I have had 50 years of horse experience and am willing to teach you what you would like to know.  All our animals are friendly and easy to get along with.

We are a stud farm so there is limited opportunity to ride.  In the off season, De Nova Silver Brumby can be ridden under supervision and maybe a couple of the broodmares that are not in foal.

We provide basic accommodation with three basic meals/day supplied, you supply your own fruit, snacks and drinks.   If you any food allergies or are vegetarian you may also like to bring extra  food that is suitable for you.  There is a shared small fridge in one of the rooms to store your fruit, etc.    You may also need hat, boots and gloves.  Mobile phone has limited signal unless with Telstra.

There is lots of free time to explore the beautiful Marne Conservation Park opposite our door.   In the evening walking down our road you may come across kangaroos.  You will experience glorious sunrises and sunsets.

We are “off the beaten track”,  in the Murraylands of South Australia,  the beautiful Barossa Valley is approximately 45 minutes,  the mighty River Murray 20 minutes down the road and Adelaide is just over an hour’s drive,  there is a very small general store 8km away and a bit larger one 18 km away and the nearest rural centre is 50km away.  Are you prepared for the isolation?

There is no public transports, nearest bus is to the Mount Pleasant in the Adelaide Hills from the Tea Tree Plaza Interchange.   We can be met you at Mount Pleasant, 50 km from out place.
